The Development & Fundraising Committee Chair plays a critical role in ensuring the organization meets the annual development goals. The Chair is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the fundraising plans and ensuring compliance on associated fundraising activities, and monitors revenue projections across the organization.
Recommended Volunteer Hours:
12 hours a week, weekly meetings on Wednesdays at 5:30 pm.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversees the duties and responsibilities of subcommittee roles: Member Relations Team, Donor Stewardship Coordinator, Corporate Memberships Coordinator, and Grant Coordinator.
- Establishes and maintains collaborative working relationships with the CEO, Board Members, development colleagues, and other committee leaders to maximize the organization’s major gifts, solicitation strategies, grants, and membership levels.
- Assists and/or leads in short and long-range strategic planning activities to create and implement fundraising goals and objectives.
- Identify strategic partners and sponsors in alignment with programs and mission.
- Develop strategies for major gifts and capital campaign projects.
- Develop benchmark thresholds for each of the various funding sources.
- Researches write, edit, and/or oversees the preparation of persuasive, accurate, and grammatically and syntactically correct solicitations, proposals, case statements, reports, correspondence, and other development-related communication materials in support of the organization’s fundraising activities.
- Solicit sponsorships and partnerships for events and programs.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, sponsors, and donors.
- Oversee partnerships with professional, government, and institutional agencies.

- Demonstrated ability in securing major gifts, sponsorship, and donations above $10,000 and up, from individuals, corporations, foundations, and other private funding sources.
- Ability to exercise good judgment, to demonstrate an understanding of ethics related to development activities, and to use discretion in interactions with donors, prospects, volunteers, and others.
- Ability to foster effective working relationships within a team environment.
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups.
